MacX is running concurrently with the Mac environment. Try running the X11R4 MIT server (or Apple's raw server) and you'll see much better performance. On a Mac IIfx running the MIT server, the machine feels a whole lot faster than a Sun 3/60. "ico -faces -colors ..." runs respectably even. /jordan
