In answering a question about GIF, TIFF, PCX etc. file formats, 
Harold G. Andrews II pointed to a book called BIT-MAPPED GRAPHICS
by Steve Rimmer, Windcrest Publishers of Blue Ridge Summit, PA.

What other books on bit maps and different image file formats 
should one be aware of when interested in this subject? 

What about file conversion programmes, any to recommend besides
the ones mentioned in the FAQ posting? Any opinions on the file 
conversion programme "H. J. Caddy" (Inset Systems)?
