It seems to be a built-in function. Our latest Minivas manual does not say how to turn it off. We solved the problem by adding an Abekas A60 disk - then it only beeps every 750 frames! Also the disk is so noisy you cannot hear the beep. In addition, you can record about 3 frames a second instead of one every 40 seconds (PAL requires longer preroll than NTSC).
