I agree.  I wouldn't call what Steve Jackson (or I) went through a
knock-knock search:  In my case, it was all over by the time that I got
home from work, so they might have knocked, might not have.  To come
in and find everything that looked like a computer, disk or tape gone
looks more like a no-knocker to me.  Of course, some public servants
did stop by about five minutes later, not to explain but to challenge.
