The pictures were digitized live using a 256 grey scale. Using a rather nifty little program, the 'raw' format pictures were converted to 32 colour IFF files and imported to my Amiga. At this stage, you can still see all my features... Conversion to binary (which is needed for the simple C128 VDC hires screens) kinda fouled things up. The picture on the left makes me look like a Panda bear with a goatee -- and totally disguises the fact that I'm wearing glasses. The picture on the right is a little more accurate. It clearly shows the glasses, and even the hint of eyebrows! This picture also shows what looks like a beard. This is just an effect of the digitization and binarizing. At that stage I simply had a few days growth as the result of being a lazy student. So, no, at the time the pictures were taken, I did not have a beard -- just a bit of fuzz. However, at the moment I am wearing a rather healthy looking beard, and I have been recognized at a computer show just by those pictures... I guess the right picture does somewhat resemble me know, but the left picture is way off base... Matthew E.
