Keywords: 256kRAMs,what about jumpers? Message-ID: Date: 17 Dec 90 02:34:26 GMT Sender: news@cs.mu.oz.au Lines: 24 Reading through the DEC Installation guide made it look so easy! In reality not so, it seems?! I plunged my 256k RAM chips in the sockets, set the jumpers on the memory board to the according position(on,as mentioned in the manual), and then blue-eyed me believed everything will be the 896kHEAVEN. The FSOAB didn't feel the same way, so here goes nothing -> -> -> -> W H A T H A V E I D O N E W R O N G ??? Are there any jumpers on the mainboard to be set, that are not mentioned in the beautiful manual @#@!!??? The only difference in layout between 4164 and 41256 is that pin1 has A8 on, whereelse on the 4164 it's not used, therefore I flicked the switches to "OFF" and there you go, I had 512k available. What's my problem?? Second question: If it is my mainboard, and I can only use the RAMS as 64k ones, fine, be it so; BUT how do I tell the setup about the new memory?? Still wondering why I bother Thanx in advance Thomas
