I had the same thing happen to me last night.  I'd forgotten to turn off the
clock before archiving.  Fortunately, RESTORE-ing memory wasn't bad -- but
it sure takes a long time to restore 97 kb of stuff!

I know you said you think the clock was off, but that's probably what 
happened to you.
