The reason has to do with customs. Mail is treated as a personal shipment while couriers are classified as comercial. This means that Canada Post will broker and forward a shipment as part of the cost of the postage putting a bill on the package for you to return with a payment. Due to regulations, UPS, Fedex, etc have this done by a brokering/forwarding service and you have to get the shipment cleared through customs personally. 18 chips once cost me $60.00 ***extra*** (30 dollar freight forwarding fee as Fedex did not then deliver to St. John's and 30 dollars brokerage fee).
