It is running a 10" Apple Grayscale monitor. The solution was the replacement of the power supply. Could this failure be caused by the draw of the monitor (95 watts)? Anyway this fixed the problem. To counteract the problem (before it was fixed) I switched the manual power switch on the back of the CPU to "constant on" so the unit would power right back up after the power down.
