When the machine is booted, it fails to boot the File band. It gives a message that reads as follows: Nupi error: Disk unit 1, address : 5457 Device error: uncorrectable data error on read command I suspect that there may be a bad spot on the "File partition" of the disk unit 1. Is there any way of confirming this? I presume that I would have to re-initialize the partition on the disk. But before doing that I would like to find out what I would be losing. i.e. what are the usual contents of the "File partition"? I know that the partition contains all the user directories. I have backups of the user directories on tape. I just want to make sure that there are no system files on it, as I do not have any backups of any system files on this partition. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. -Prasad
