My copy of LaTeX puts page breaks into the multi-page bibliography without any
difficulty.

Is it possible you have stumbled into math mode with an unprotected magic
character? 

Is it possible you have an unbalanced number of "{" and "}" brackets?

Does your ".log" file contain any warning or error messages?
