I often disconnect the tape drive to connect it to our VAX. Several seconds after disconnecting it, the DS5400 console responds with something like "msi0: resynching controller." When I later reconnect the tape drive, the DS5400 does not recognize it. When I reboot the DS5400, everything is fine. I want a way to tell the DS5400 that the tape drive is reconnected, WITHOUT rebooting. Is there a method? (Before anyone asks: yes, I know all about "rdump" and other tools for using a tape drive on a remote machine. For the work I am doing, I *need* the TU81+ directly connected to both machines. Ever try to boot a VAX into standalone mode from a remote drive?)
