I asked this several weeks back but didn't get any responses.. I'll have one
more try..

We run nn on a single host.  The MASTER file is held in /usr/spool/news/.nn 
directory. We have an entry 
       /usr/local/lib/nn/nnmaster -l -r -C
in /etc/rc.local 
When we reboot the system, nnmaster fails with the following messages:

      Incomplete MASTER file
      Abnormal termination, exit=7

To get it to start, we have to manually do:
 
       ...../nnmaster -O60 -C 
      then

       ..../nnmaster -r -O46

Anyone seen this 'Incomplete MASTER file ' report before? The MASTER file
looks OK as far as I can tell (its not empty or anything)

I'd appreciate any incoming light on this. Thanks!
