I did the math once when I was tempted by a cheap lamp. ISTM
that over the lifetime of the GE 75 watt lamp, it used $11.00 of
electricity at my residential rates. The lamp cost about $0.39 on
sale. 

I stopped worrying about the price of the lamps after that.
I DO worry about their efficiency.
