The Knox Class FF and the Spruance class DD are ASW ships only.
The Perry Class FFG and the Charles F. Adams Class DDG are air-defense
ships with a secondary (and very good) ASW mission.

BTW, Current USN doctrine puts ASW as its top priority.  The battle
group's best defense against submarines are the 3-5 SSN's that are
assigned to it...
