I need some recommendations for comm packages that I can purchase to use with my Foxpro application. I need a reasonably priced software package that can be integrated into any of the xbase products. I've noted several that claim to provide interrupt driven file transfers and I do need this, but more importantly I need to receive files in the "background" (rx'd data going to a file while my xbase application continues to run). My foreground application must be able to do file I/O also. I've already purchased a product which can do this but unfortunately after leaving the file open for many hours my system locks up. The vendor (CompuSolve) has been actively trying to help me figure why I have been the only user to have this problem. In the meantime my customer is patiently waiting. Does anybody in net land have EXPERIENCE with a package that can receive a file in the background? In addition, consider that maybe the DOS purests are right, that because it is impossible to build such a package - there are none to be found. How can I put something together from cheap off-the-shelf parts that would help me in the interim. Sooner or later the Can't Do-Impossible-No Way-Blood Sucking-DOS Purests will die off :-) We can argue about what is "background" some other time. I would greatly appreciate any CONSTRUCTIVE help (suggestions). Thanks everyone Tim Coddington tac@sei.cmu.edu (407)779-3451 (407)768-7470 ps. I was just kidding about Blood Sucking :-)
