The DBA will be responsible for a medium-sized database (apx. 500 tables, 1.2 GB ) containing the output of government- and drug company-sponsored AIDS treatment studies conducted at apx. 100 sites nation-wide. The computing environment includes IBM-compatible microcomputers at each remote site where data entry is conducted, utilizing software built on top of a data entry package called "EntryPoint 90". The central facility is based on DEC MIPS processor systems running ULTRIX and commercial INGRES. The DBA will have a staff of two Assistant DBAs and 6 additional individuals. The latter are responsible for the design of paper "Case Report Forms" and data entry screens and maintain a key distributed information system. The DBA, in addition to "typical" DBA functions, will also play a leading role in several long-term projects. Candidates must have a relevant degree, experience with UNIX, and familiarity with the trials, tribulations, and headaches associated with version 6 INGRES.
