A workaround is a string of 6 to 9 commas after the number, so the modem waits before it sets up. ATDT 123-4567,,,,,, >return< I have to do this with my Mitac 2400BD and it works. The number of commas is subject to trial and error, but it lets you connect. I understand that some modem builders came out with new firmware to fix this, so you might try calling Supra (Mitac doesn't know there's a problem yet). Part of the answer could also lie in the way the other end has their modem set up. The length of the V32 negotiation (S18 for HSTs) can make a difference. However, we can't usually control that, can we? -- <<<< insert standard disclaimer here >>>> riddle@hoss.unl.edu | University of Nebraska postmaster%inns@iugate.unomaha.edu | College of Law mike.riddle@f27.n285.z1.fidonet.org | Lincoln, Nebraska, USA
