Summary: Minix does not boot! Keywords: IBM, XT, 1.5 Message-ID: <1990Dec22.153714.26977@midway.uchicago.edu> Date: 22 Dec 90 15:37:14 GMT Sender: kapil@zaphod.uchicago.edu Organization: Department of Mathematics Lines: 18 Has anyone faced the problem which I have: 1. Boot diskette #1 works fine and produces a prompt. 2. On the introduction of diskette #4 and pressing = the expected divison of memory etc is obtained. The system then says remove root diskette. 3. Following instructions, the diskette #5 is introduced and a carriage return is typed. There is no response from the system for a long time (approx 2 min) The diskette light too does not come on. 4. Finally in desperation DEL is pressed and this produces the following response: init: couldn't exec login Is this a problem with the hardware (which of course I have been asssured is 100% hardware compatible with IBM :-|(=)--or some problem with the distribution diskettes that I got? Thanks in advance. Kapil Paranjape.
