I've gotten to the "readall" step and have noticed that it takes an EXTREMELY long time to scan a partition. I'm using a Maxtor 200AT drive (191 megs, 15ms access). The drive light blinks about every second. I've set up partitions of various lengths (5K, 32K, 64K), and in each case, the drive seems run into an infinite loop. The only partition I got it to work on was a .5 meg partition for the RAM disk. I'm concerned because this is supposed to be a "fast" surface check, and I'd hoped that with a 15ms drive that it would be even faster. On the 64 meg partition, I waited 4.5 hours and finally gave up. What gives?! I'm at the end of my rope, so to speak. :-( -- J.
