Is there a *legal* public domain version of uucp availble?  I'd like to get
a package as a starting point for building a *POSIX* compatible uucp.

I've heard rumors of GNU uucp effort, but, can not find any traces of 
where, when, or how.  

If I get some response, I'll summarize back to the net.  Thanks in advance ...
