I've been using a Sperry/Kurta tablet for some time. Comes with two "cursors": one is a mouse-like cursor with 3 buttons and X-Y crosshairs, and the other is a pen-like cursor with a "dry" ball-point tip for which one CAN substitute a Fisher Space Pen cartridge for drawing on a piece of paper placed on top of the tablet. For reference, the Sperry/Kurta tablet I'm using is their Model 4551 which comes in either 8-1/2"x11" or 12"x12" tablet sizes. The interface is RS-232 and the tablet can be completely programmed and interrogated by the computer in addition to having some 22 function selections along the top of the tablet (outside the main digitizing area). Of the several "encoding" methods used by the tablet, one is compatible with Summagraphics (at least it works fine with GSS' GKS VDI graphics on my UNIX boxes in addition to working fine on the Amiga). The tablet can also be easily programmed to report its coordinates in terms of one's CRT screen resolution (i.e. 640x200, 640X400, 720x480 or whatever) in addition to the "normal" 50, 100 or 200 ppi selectable resolution of the tablet (which, by the way, "maps" nicely into the coordinate system of Hewlett-Packard plotters).
