When connecting the original DigiView hardware (which was designed for an A1000) to a newer Amiga, using a simple gender-changer will NOT work. That's because the DigiView module is powered by +5 volts from the parallel port, and the new Amigas (A500, A2000, A3000) use a different pin for this purpose. The 25-pin male-to-male adapter from NewTek has some sort of DC-to-DC converter/voltage-regulator, but I have had success with the following: Get two male DB-25 connectors. Wire pin 1 on one connector to pin 1 on the other connector. Do the same for pins 2-13 (the entire top row) and 17-22 (all but 3 pins at each end of the bottom row.) Wire pin 14 to pin 23, 15 to 24, 16 to 25, 23 to 14, 24 to 15, 25 to 16. The resultant adapter is symmetrical; it can be plugged in either way. I have also used it to run the Future Sound audio digitizer on my A2000. -- Joe Smith (408)922-6220 | SMTP: jms@tardis.tymnet.com or jms@gemini.tymnet.com BT Tymnet Tech Services | UUCP: ...!{ames,pyramid}!oliveb!tymix!tardis!jms PO Box 49019, MS-C51 | BIX: smithjoe | CA license plate: "POPJ P," (PDP-10) San Jose, CA 95161-9019 | humorous dislaimer: "My Amiga 3000 speaks for me."
