I realized, that the Software on the GVP-Installation Disk was too old, it makes problems with the Modem. So i ordered the Autoboot-Kit and continued using my 2090 until the Kit will arrive. There were some mystireous Failures with the old Software, the Speed-Test of THI-Tools fails at 128 KB read/write and the Speed-Test of Alf failed too, the Harddisk hang and i had to reboot. Now i have the Kit Version 2.3 and a second HD, a 211 MB Rodime. The software works great with Rodime and has no problem with the modem anymore. But the Toshiba still refuses to work with big files. Besides the Faaast-Prep-Prog. i found the gvpprepat in the gvputils-dir. This software allows to set the maxtransfer. I tested some values and found that 100000 is to high and 70000 works. The only Problem is, that this prep-software limits the Buffers to 256 and you cannot set the synchronous/asynchronous transfer. So if i use faaast-prep after using gvpprepat i can change these things, but it overwrites the maxtransfer-value and sets it to the normal value (maxint). The questions are, how do i have to set the Jumpers of the Toshiba to work correctly as a slave to the Rodime, i found a setting that both drives work correctly together, but i don't know if its correct ? Is it normal that i have to set the Maxtransfer for the Toshiba (Conner) or is the drive broken ? How can i set Maxtransfer from faaast-prep or how can i force him to use the preveous value ? Please help if you can, i want to use the Toshiba as boot-hd, but i can not trust it. Bye, Helmut.
