And since they had to the same the Apple can only do one output and one input at the same time. So let's say you were running a BBS and you were playing a game. You couldn't have two disk inputs/outputs at the same time. Then there is the speed compromise, unless you were running a Transwarp or those experimental Rocket chips. And Prodos would most likely be completely rewritten to handle the inputs/outputs if something was workable. OR you could just plug in another coprocessor in slot 3 or something and work it through there....but that would lead to a lot of troubles...
