I'm not sure what you mean by a "key" disk. The Lotus files on the hard drive work. I assume that I can just copy them back to the original floppies after I reformat them and it will run. At least I hope so. If they have been loaded to the hd and they work, then the previous owner must have unprotected them, don't you think? Thanks again, and if you get a listing handy of the rest of the files please drop me a note. I hope you realize that the standard 1A is copy protected (requiring a "key disk"); you can't just copy the files to another diskette and expect it to work. Likewise, unless you have unprotected it, your HD version won't work without a valid system diskette. BTW, to add to Ed Esber's problems, Ashton-Tate's copyright for dBase has just been disallowed. This means that anyone not subject to the license agreement is free to copy it with impunity. - --- msged 1.99L MSC * Origin: Silver Bullet - Silver Spring, Md. - 301-622-2247 (1:109/417) ------------------------------ Date: 12-22-90 (02:30) To: FRANK MALLORY Subject: DBASE COPYRIGHT From: PAUL ROBINSON Do you really expect A-T to just sit by and let a judge declare that DBASE is not copyrighted? You will now get line-drawing characters instead of lower-case letters. To return to lower case, send control-O to the screen. Under MS-DOS, you can send the desired sequences to the screen by the command COPY CON CON After you have entered this command, you can press the (or ) key to produce the escape character, the <)> key (that is shift- zero) to get ')', control-N to get that character, and so on. Control- Z followed by the key ends the sequence. You can also press the key (also called ) instead of control-Z. Under CP/M, you can use PIP as in PIP CON:=CON: but this time the key (that is, ) sends the escape character, and you cannot use the key instead of control-Z. Also, you need not press the key after entering control-Z. You can also make up little files having the desired codes in them with an editor like SEDT or WordStar (keep WordStar in non-document mode), and TYPE the files to the screen Hope this helps. - --- Opus-CBCS 1.12 * Origin: Glacier Peak Rainbow, Bellevue, WA - 206/644-8431 (1:343/3.0) ------------------------------ Date: 12-22-90 (00:11) To: FRANK MALLORY Subject: DBASE From: DAVID MAROUN > BTW, to add to Ed Esber's problems, Ashton-Tate's copyright > for dBase has just been disallowed.
