But when I copy the files to the floppies, it crashes. how many hidden files are on the lotus sys disk? I guess that I could just backup all of the lotus files on the hd but I'm worried that I may miss a hidden file or two and then if I need to replace the data on the hd, it won't work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Nolan - --- * Origin: NorthLake DATA EXCHANGE * Folsom * LA * 506-796-5860 (1:390/3) ------------------------------ Date: 12-24-D90 (09:17) To: DAVID MAROUN Subject: DBASE From: FRANK MALLORY DM> > BTW, to add to Ed Esber's problems, Ashton-Tate's copyright DM> > for dBase has just been disallowed. The copyright was overturned on the basis that dBase II was derived from a Government program (Vulcan). I *assume* but don't know, that A-T would have to show that at some point they abandoned all the public contribution and came up with a completely new product, in order to substantiate the copyright. - --- msged 1.99L MSC * Origin: Silver Bullet - Silver Spring, Md. - 301-622-2247 (1:109/417) ------------------------------ Date: 12-24-D90 (14:42) To: NOLAN LEE Subject: FILE LIST NEEDED From: FRANK MALLORY NL> Lotus 123 works fine on the hard drive with no floppie disks in the NL> machine. NL> Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Nolan It shouldn't crash; this may indicate that you have copied it wrong. I seldom use Lotus, but I seem to recall that if the protection isn't correct, you will either get a message when you start up and/or certain of the functions won't work (e.g., printing and saving). There's a program called DISK, available here as DISK31.ZIP, that lets you see all files (incl. hidden ones) in a directory and change the attributes so they are unhidden and can be copied. - --- msged 1.99L MSC * Origin: Silver Bullet - Silver Spring, Md. - 301-622-2247 (1:109/417) ------------------------------
