I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has upgraded their 3/280's to a SPARCserver. Did the upgrade go smoothly? What equipment does SUN require you to return? Are you able to use the XY 472 tape controller, SMD-4 and disks, ALM-2, and SCSI disks and tapes? Were you able to keep the 72" cabinet? (The "card cage" is supposed to be returned.) Are you able to use the b&w monitor of the 3/280 with the SPARCserver? The list price for this upgrade in the 6/15/90 price book is $52,600. Any information anyone can provide is greatly appreciated.
