  Does anyone know the algorithm the 'dump' command uses to estimate the
  size (number of blocks and amount of tape) of an incremental file
  system dump?

  
  Is there a straightforward way to get that information 'on the fly'
  (other than starting up 'dump' and seeing what it says)?
