Someone in Australia posted a version of DES to the net some time back. There was also a version from Phil Karn (KA9Q fame). Unfortunately I don't think anyone in the US can safely post that code because of export restrictions (which so far as I know still apply to library routines which aren't strictly for user authentication purposes ...) -- John F.
