I am interested  in finding out what is available in top-of-the-line
database systems.  People used to talk about special-purpose database
hardware which could perform certain operations very fast in support
of standard commercial mainframes or supercomputers.  I haven't heard 
much about them recently -- are there any available today?  If you had a
very big database and very big budget, what systems would you look at?

I'd appreciate any references or pointers.
