I have an Hayes V-Series Smartmodem 9600 modem connected to my Mac.  I can
talk to the modem just fine.  I want to call our unix host in v32/v42 mode.
The host has a Telebit T2500, which will operate at v32/9600bps.  When I call,
t
the modem grabs the second tone sequence presented, then immediately reports
'NO CARRIER'.  I've tried everything I can think of.  My Hayes configuration is:

In particular, the combination of S50=0 and S92=1 should mean the tone
presentation sequence is v.25,v.32,...

I've been trying for several nights now.  I'm posting this stuff at 2400bps.
What a waste of two fine modems!  Anybody got any ideas?  (I must admit I'm
really hoping Toby Nixon will find time to answer this!)
