    When I issue a "show line" command on the cisco terminal, I can
    see the line usage status.  Is anyone know what is the "Noise" counter
    mean?  For example, the line 111 has      "noise"  0    71908    0  

The column directly under "noise" is the number of character other than
the activation character received on an idle line, summed with the number
of "framing errors" occuring while the lineis active.  The remaining two
columns only appear when you have "debug modem" turned on - one is the
total output byte count,and the other is the total input byte count.
These are not fully implemented, and were intended most for internal use
durring debugging at cisco.
