is there a public domain dvi-to-ps converter that can handle gf/pk fonts AND
\special requests for inclusion of postscript source in latex documents (eg.
via psfig)?

i currently have something called dvi2ps that can handle
specials but not gf fonts and another thing called dvialw that can handle gf
fonts but not specials.

what is the preferered method for including postscript in latex these days?
i have psfig but have not been following the topic recently.  thanks in
advance.
