Subject: Why are local users "anonymous"?

When  mailing  an article, or using "recmail" to send  mail,  the
message  always  arrives "From anonymous", rather than  the  user
name  of  the  sender.   After rereading TFM  I  can't  spot  any
configuration parameters that would control this.

It  seems that recmail can't determine the name of the sender and
substitutes "anonymous" instead.  Any ideas?
