I am looking for information on network simulation software to model different
network designs ranging from Ethernet to FDDI to SONET.  Both "pay for" and
public domain packages are of interest and any related war stories would be
appreciated.

We are preparing to evaluate a product from AT&T and I would be interested in
hearing from anyone who has worked with their stuff.
