Mit X11R4 pathc level 18, andrew patch level 8 (compiled with -O). Not using resolver libs or AMDS. Help command fails with illegal instruction if any UPPER case letters are used in the help argument. If only lower case leters are used help appears to work correctly. If select help on ... is choosen from the running help menu and UPPER case letters are used it also crashes. We have tried compiling without -O and with -DDEBUGGING (and adding a few debugging lines of our own and confirm that the illegal instruction occurs on the call (or in) the tolower() routine in LowerCase. We have 'cut' out the LowerCase routine and used it in a small test program and it works fine. To concur with your conclusion ....VERY STRANGE INDEED.
