If you have bought or sold a computer via USENET please EMAIL me with your experiences! My gut tells me that it's hard to trust someone long distance with my equipment; maybe there's a method for exchanging equipment for $$ that I'm unaware of. The method is quite straightforward: ship UPS COD; this requires the recipient to pay with cash, certified check, or postal money order (as good as a certified check) ... UPS won't accept a personal check if you so specify ... this way EVERYONE is protected (as least as far as the money part goes). Thousands of computers and parts get sold/traded/whatever over the Usenet, in groups such as comp.sys.amiga (I bought some RAM from one person) and also in the newsgroup misc.forsale.computers. You should look at some of the stuff in misc.forsale.computers to get some ideas. If you get "stuck" with mis-represented junk, your recourse is small claims court. But it seems that most people are honest. Thad Floryan [ thad@cup.portal.com (OR) ..!sun!portal!cup.portal.com!thad ]
