Note that zmodem usually does not recognize .lzh as an extension for binary
files, whereas it does recognize .arc. Maybe the files have been downloaded
in ASCII mode. I always download files in binary mode by default, even
ASCII files. (I download from Unix, and I can get the CR/LF characters with
a simple text editor).
