I installed a blitter to my 1040 ST for a while ago. 
To get it work, you have to unsolder two jumpers, marked with "W", located
near to the blitter's socket. (if I remember it correctly, above and left of
the blitter. These jumpers are similar to those used to select the size
of the TOS-ROMs)
