Hard Disk Problems Keywords: RLL, Hard Disk, EGA Message-ID: <398@opus.NMSU.Edu> Date: 3 Jan 91 14:42:57 GMT Sender: news@NMSU.Edu Lines: 20 I have an old PC-XT clone with a 15 megabyte hard disk (RLL controller). I just got an EGA monitor and video card which I tried to install. I know very little about hardware, but I was told I needed to replace the ROM BIOS because the original would not recognize EGA. I had the chip and replaced it. Now, my PC does not recognize the hard disk at all. It thinks it has four floppy disks (A-D) as per the floppy disk controller, but doesn't see the hard disk controller. Any suggestions as to what to try next? I tried putting everything back the way it was...and the PC still doesn't recognize the hard disk. One person suggested that I *MUST* reinitialize the hard disk and reformat it. That seems a bit drastic to me. I mean, the information should still be on the hard disk and should be usable. I would *REALLY* appreciate some help if anyone out there has some suggestions.
