I am reasonably well-versed with the IBM AT and have a CS background, and have used FAX machines. But beyond that I have very little understanding of how the FAX cards are used. Some tell me that it is just a paper saving device. Others say that the software it comes with makes it more powerful than just having a FAX machine. Also, if someone wants to write software for a FAX card, is there a standard interface such as the VGA interface for displays? Thanks! Sriram (reply to this account or to sankar@cs.stanford.edu).
