On a 9600 baud modem, it's worthwhile to un-binhex with mcvert on my unix machine and then use zmodem to upload. So for unix users, the un-binhexing ability of StuffIt is not crucial. Concerning the switching of applications: If you're running MultiFinder, it's certainly not a heck of a lot more work to launch binhex and Compactor, and if you're NOT running MultiFinder, you can always un-binhex the whole lot and then un-compact them all. One switch per batch.
