Message-ID: <571.2783DE7F@busker.fidonet.org> Date: 28 Dec 90 04:36:43 GMT Sender: ufgate@busker.fidonet.org (newsout1.26) Organization: FidoNet node 1:226/20 - cmhGate UF Gateway, Columbus OH Lines: 27 Reply-To: long@mcntsh.enet.dec.com I have a Cutting Edge external 800K floppy that I've migrated to my IIci. It works sporadically at best. If I try to boot off it, I occasionally get a Sad Mac, with some hex error code. Other times, the disk just ejects, or it boots OK. Inserting a disk after boot sometimes brings up the "disk is damaged; repair it?" dialog, and other times it mounts fine. Parenthetically, the disks always work in the internal Superdrive. So, the question: should this work, or should I pop for an external Superdrive? Who's to blame? Cutting Edge? Apple? gremlins? The problems seem to vary with the distance I move the floppy away from the monitor (Applecolor 13"),but there's a limit to how far it can go. Thanks, as always. Richard C.
