Message-ID: <9101031703.AA00247@lars.seri.gov> Date: 3 Jan 91 17:03:15 GMT Sender: news@daver.bungi.com Lines: 15 Approved: news@daver.bungi.com In my continuing effort to compile gcc-1.38 cleanly I added an extra 4MB of memory (for a total of 8MB). Using the monitor I can read (dump) and write (fill) all 8MB (and yes, I did check it was not wrapping at 4MB). However, Minix apparently refuses to recognize more than 4MB, as reported at boot time and by ps. I even tried to bypass ram_size by adding 1MB (256 pages) to whatever ram_size returns but that caused minix to hang right after it prints out the memory sizes. Could this be a hardware problems, i.e., does the monitor access the memory differently from Minix, e.g., skips parity checks? Sverre -- Sverre Froyen sverre@seri.gov, sunpeaks!seri!sverre
