I got minix to work.  It turns out that my DUART1 was continually
receiving noise characters.  As soon as interrupts were turned on on
/dev/tty2 it went nuts.  Unfortunately, my disk had an /etc/ttys that
turned on /dev/tty2.  I've removed the chip from DUART1's socket, and
I don't plan to replace it until I acquire at least 3 more devices
that speak RS232 (19 more if I get an ETH532 (-: ).

I've been running for about three days now.  It's a nice little
system.
