From the Sun literature,  I see that the Sparcstation 2GS is the lowest
end hardware available to offer true 24 bit color (as opposed to 24 bit
dithered to 8 bit for display).  X11/NEWS supports 8 bit color only.  My
application (medical image display) calls for 24 bit images display in a
windowing environment.  Can X11/NEWS and the software that drives the 24
bit stuff run together on one display?
