Thomas, AE) Newsgroups: comp.windows.ms Subject: Excel password protected files: help! Summary: Someone please help this poor fool who doesn't want to spend a million dollars retrieving his files. Keywords: excel, password, help, encryption, decryption Message-ID: <19283@hydra.gatech.EDU> Date: 7 Jan 91 18:42:37 GMT Organization: Georgia Institute of Technology Lines: 17 About four months ago I encrypted some sensitive Excel worksheets; well I just came back to look something up in them, and my memory failed me! Can anyone give me a hand in retrieving these files? A company called ADRS sells a package to recover your passwords--for $185 plus shipping. That's $200 dollars I don't have. They'll also do a "one time" decryption for you for $35. . .well, this starving student can't even manage that. What I do have is patience and programming skills; so even if your solution involves some hacking around, I'm not afraid to try it out. Anyone? Anyone? --Pete -- Peter L.
