WordPerfect runs much faster alone than under windows. This is due partially to some Windows overhead, but mostly to the fact that there is less memory available under Windows. Use the /ws flag on the Wordperfect commmand line or set wp=/ws at the DOS command line to get WP to tell you what memory is available. This flag is not documented. 2. WordPerfect can handle much bigger files alone. The swapping seems to go up exponentially if you run out of space, and so the time goes up exponentially. 3. Don't use automatic backup -- it really can cause problems. If you must use it, set it to 30 minutes rather than 5 min. 4. Get the latest version of WP. The most recent program revisions are 8/20/90. The most recent printer revisions are 12/20/90. The new version of WordPerfect that is designed to run under Windows will be out this year. You might try that.
