This user happened to have the .cshrc line: limit filesize 2M During the execution of the cancel, this is what he saw: Canceling... /usr/local/lib/news/inews: 29831 Exceeded file size limit End of article 1198 (of 1202)--What next? [npq] /usr/local/lib/news/inews: art icle in /q2/uh/george/dead.article Clearly, some manipulation within inews caused a file larger than 2M to be created. What I'm guessing is that the resource limit applies to all files, whether they existed previously or not, and the modification of the history database caused the resource limit signal. Given that this guess is correct, should relaynews ensure that it's resource limitations are appropriate, or should this user do something to make sure his limits are off while executing rn? If I'm wrong, does anyone have any ideas why this would happen? -- Mark Nagel UC Irvine Department of ICS +----------------------------------------+ ARPA: nagel@ics.uci.edu | Charisma doesn't have jelly in the | UUCP: ucbvax!ucivax!nagel | middle. -- Jim Ignatowski |
